I enjoy using Long Tail Pro to help focus in on what prospects are looking for in a specific niche. For example, when a natural health store client of mine started a new website, I immediately went to Long Tail Pro for help.
This store wasn’t in a super competitive area, but the other health food stores had been in business for much longer. That meant their websites were older and had more authority. So, Google would naturally favor those sites.
I went to LTP and typed in “natural health.” Right away, I found target keywords in my competitiveness range I could use:
- Natural health and wellbeing
- Natural health and wellness
- Natural health food store
Then I drilled down some more and found long tail keywords for natural makeup and natural skincare [using the Google Adword Suggestion feature]. These are two areas they wanted to focus on.
These are some keywords I found using the Google Adword Suggestions feature in LongTailPro:
- Natural skincare for acne
- Natural face cream
- Best natural moisturizer
- Natural face moisturizer
- Best natural makeup
- All natural mascara
- Best natural mascara
- Best organic mascara
And so on. It was quite a list! I then used Long Tail Pro’s Competition Analysis to see how these keywords were used online.
